Life in Oaxaca
In January 2019, I participated in the photojournalism study abroad program at the University of Maryland. We spent two weeks in Oaxaca, Mexico. The state of Oaxaca is one of the three poorest in Mexico. Experiencing their culture through my lens was definitely a challenge for me considering not only the language barrier, but recognizing I came from a place of privilege. While there, we wrote some blog posts that you can check out here. We visited the markets and got to photograph two host families for three days each.

March For Black Women
Washington, D.C.
In 2018, I covered the March For Black Women. Hosted by the Black Women’s Blueprint and several other organizations, the march addressed the rights of Black women and focused especially on sexual assault survivors. I took photos for this piece and recorded put together a video package for it as well.
